Thermosphere
What exactly is the thermosphere?
The thermosphere is an atmospheric
layer. The thermosphere exists between the mesosphere and the exosphere.

The thermosphere is
the layer that exists between the exosphere and the mesosphere. The term
"thermo" refers to heat, and temperatures in this layer can reach
4,500 degrees Fahrenheit. However, if you stayed in the thermosphere, you would
be very cold because there aren't enough gas molecules to transfer heat to you.
This also implies that there are insufficient molecules for sound waves to
travel through.
The thickness of this
layer of the Earth's atmosphere is approximately 319 miles (513 kilometers).
That is significantly thicker than the inner layers of the atmosphere, but
nowhere near as thick as the exosphere.
The International Space Station is housed in the thermosphere as it orbits the Earth. Low Earth orbit satellites can also be found here. The thermosphere is buzzing with activity!
